Mumbai: Television is not merely a source of entertainment but a powerful medium capable of shaping mindsets and driving positive social change. Veteran actress Aparna Mehta, who has been an integral part of the Indian television industry for decades, firmly believes in this enduring strength of TV. Currently seen essaying the role of Rajshri in Sun Neo’s show ‘Prathao Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendni’, Mehta reflects on how television continues to remain relevant and impactful even today.
Sharing her perspective, Aparna Mehta says, “I have personally witnessed television evolve over the years, and I feel proud to have been a part of this journey. Any show that carries a meaningful and positive message always connects deeply with the audience. Television may not be the same as it was earlier, but it is certainly not fading away. Its reach is vast, and even today, it commands a massive viewership. That is why TV remains a strong medium to bring about change and deliver the right message to society.”

Speaking about the global reach of Indian television, she adds, “I travel across the world for my dramas, and I have seen how deeply connected people living abroad are to Indian TV content. They may not watch films regularly, but television is something they follow consistently. This makes it even more important for us to reflect today’s reality through our stories instead of reinforcing outdated mindsets. In my current show ‘Prathao Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendni’, my character believes that girls do not need education. However, through the storyline and the central characters, the show strongly highlights the importance of educating girls. Even today, in many places, girls are not encouraged to study, and it is crucial to bring this message to the masses.”

‘Prathao Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendni’ revolves around the story of Ghewar, a village girl from Rajasthan. Her life takes a dramatic turn with the arrival of a newborn in her family—an event that connects two different lives. Amid love, sacrifice, and hidden truths, Ghewar displays immense courage and determination to protect what is most precious to her.
